Riley
Sumpter takes on new Role at Chiefs FC
Youth Soccer is a busy at the best of times, and this early
fall season is no exception. With the highly anticipated expansion of Pleasantdale
Park on the near horizon and the imminent addition of fields at Brook Run Park
make this fall season perhaps the most anticipated of any in our 11-year
history.
More field space will mean expanded program opportunities to
our members in the form of camps, clinics, adult leagues, college ID sessions,
teen leagues… and much more. It is important that we prepare for the growth by
making the necessary adjustments within our organization.
It is with great pleasure that we announce Riley Sumpter will
be taking on the role of Director of Player Development. This new role will be
in addition to his current responsibilities and will see him working closely
with players, parents and staff alike as we release new initiatives and expand
on our existing programs.
When asked what Riley likes best about Chiefs FC, he
passionately exclaimed. “For me, the best thing about Chiefs FC is the
club's family atmosphere. The comfort level I feel with the McNabs,
reconnecting with other coaches on the Chief's staff that I grew up playing and
going to school with, and building and nurturing relationships with the other
coaches on staff who I did not previously know continues to have a positive
impact on my professional coaching career. With the support of the club, I continue
to learn about myself and grow as both a coach and a person.”
Coach Riley has been a long-standing member of our coaching
staff and is testament to the Chiefs FC Coaching Development Program. Riley
joined Chiefs in 2011 as an intern and has worked in all levels of our programs
before taking on the Boys Academy Coordinator position most recently.
“We’re pleased to provide Riley a platform to be successful
as a coach and excited about his continued development, his dedication to
Chiefs FC, and our membership.” Stated
Matt Holmes, Managing Director.
Riley will be taking on the new role effective immediately,
and when asked what about his new position excited him the most Riley found it
hard to narrow down but added. “I'm excited about helping players become
successful people in other aspects of their life by instilling discipline,
responsibility, and respect while also encouraging creativity, teamwork, and
critical thinking skills.”
"Identifying and continuing to develop the potential of
our coaching staff is essential to the continued success of our club. Please join us in congratulating Riley on his
new role" added Neil McNab, Chiefs FC
Executive Director.
This unique approach to player and coaching development that
Chiefs FC makes Chiefs FC a great place to play and coach soccer.
Congratulations to Coach Riley and Go Chiefs!
